CHICAGO – The Butler volleyball team improved to 16-6 on the year with a 3-0 sweep at DePaul on Friday night (25-18, 25-18, 25-22). The Bulldogs are now 6-4 against BIG EAST opponents.
Butler posted a .364 team attack percentage against the Blue Demons to control the action.
Whitney Beck and
Bri Lilly tied for the team lead with 11 kills each.
Brooke Gregory added 10 and outside hitter
Anna Logan was in the box score with nine.
The Bulldogs only committed seven attack errors on 110 total attempts. Gregory hit .625, Lilly hit .526 and Beck hit .296.
Senior setter
Makayla Ferguson notched 38 assists in the sweep and the blocks category was led by Lilly with five. Adding to the Butler defense was freshman
Natalie Ravenell who ended the contest with a team-high 14 digs.
Butler led from start to finish in the opening set and wouldn't have any problems in the second to go up 2-0. The third and final set featured a 22-22 tie, but three-straight from the 'Dawgs would end any chance of a comeback.
Butler will return to action tomorrow with a 7 PM match at Marquette.
