In a match-up of Top 15 programs, Georgetown jumped out with three goals in the first half en route to a 3-0 win over Butler Friday afternoon at Shaw Field in the nation's capital.
 
The No. 10 Hoyas and No. 15 Bulldogs are now tied atop the BIG EAST standings with 3-1 marks. Overall, Butler is 7-3 on the season, while Georgetown improves to 8-1-1.
 
Georgetown's first-half goals came in the second, tenth, and 35^th minutes and were awarded to Declan McCabe, Achara, and Derek Dodson, respectively. The Hoyas had a 12-3 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes.
 
The Hoyas had a 19-6 edge in shots for the match. Isaac Galliford had two shots for Butler.
 
Butler keeper Eric Dick made seven saves on the afternoon. His counterpart, Georgetown's JT Marcinkowski, made three saves in posting the shutout.
 
Friday's match was the first this season for Butler that was not decided by a single goal.
 
Nolan Schloneger made his 2017 debut for the Bulldogs after spending the first half of the season fighting injuries. He played in a reserve role.
 
Butler's next match is one of its last breaks from BIG EAST play as the Bulldogs travel to SIUE on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The Bulldogs return to conference play Saturday evening, Oct. 14, hosting DePaul in a BIG EAST contest at the Sellick Bowl.
