Box Score
INDIANAPOLIS – Head Coach
Sharon Clark earned her 300th win at Butler on Saturday night with Butler defeating Seton Hall 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-20). The team's annual Pink Game was played in front of nearly 600 fans!
The Bulldogs posted a .339 attack percentage in the victory.
Bri Lilly and
Anna Logan were a big part of that by hitting .526 and .357 respectively. Lilly notched 11 kills on just 19 attempts with one error. Logan was also very efficient by claiming her team-high 13 kills on 28 attempts. Logan was in the box score with a double-double by adding 11 digs. Setter
Makayla Ferguson just missed a double-double with 42 assists and eight digs.
Natalie Ravenell and
Brooke Gregory were also heavily involved in the BU game plan. Ravenell posted 10 kills and nine digs in the victory while Gregory chipped in with eight kills and a team-high four blocks.
The Bulldogs got off to a great start in the opener by grabbing a 6-1 lead after an ace from
Taylor Takeda. Seton Hall proved to be a worthy opponent by taking an 11-10 lead after a 4-0 scoring run and the score would stay tight the rest of the way.
Butler would go to Lilly early in the action to regain a slim lead at 15-14. Lilly had four kills off her first five swings of the night. The lead wouldn't last long as a 3-0 SHU scoring run would move them ahead by two points. Butler would get those points back and tie the set at 21-21 and the two teams went down the stretch knotted up at 24-24.
The difference maker in the first set was Logan. The junior outside hitter posted her fifth kill of the set to get Butler to set point and a Logan service ace would give BU the 1-0 lead.
Set two featured another fast start for the Bulldogs. BU went up 4-0, yet the set would come even at 13-13. A 3-0 Butler scoring run would put them in the driver's seat at 22-18 and one final kill from Lilly in the second would send Butler into the break leading 2-0.
The third and final set went to Butler in part to a 4-0 scoring run.
Taylor Takeda's serve broke up a tight set and gave the Bulldogs a 19-16 edge. A kill from Ravenell moved BU to match point and a Pirate attack error iced the victory.
Butler will return to action next week at Creighton. The match will stream live on BEDN.
