#22/21 @ButlerMBB Picks Up Road Win at Marquette, 68-65

Box Score

Butler ended a two-game skid with a hard-fought road win at Marquette Tuesday night in Milwaukee. The Bulldogs' seniors scored 51 of the team's 68 points in the 68-65 win. With the win, Butler improves to 19-5 overall and 8-4 in BIG EAST play. The Golden Eagles fall to 15-9 (6-6 BIG EAST).

Butler sweeps the season series with Marquette. The Bulldogs were playing after a week off.

Andrew Chrabascz had a game-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. Classmate Avery Woodson added 17 points, including 15 in the first half.

"I'm really proud of our guys," said coach Chris Holtmann. "Marquette is an NCAA Tournament team. We knew we needed to be on point tonight. Our seniors carried us. The time of year can demand more of your seniors, especially when you face adversity. We had some hard, physical practices over the last week and we knew at some point, there were going to be returns on that hard work."

After Marquette took its first lead of the game at 53-51 with 8:43 to play, Butler responded with the next seven points, keyed by five from Tyler Lewis, to retake a 58-53 advantage. The Bulldogs would never trail again, relying on a stretch from Chrabascz that saw him score six point to extend a two-point lead to 66-58 with under a minute to go. Marquette hit a three-pointer with one second on the clock for the final score.

Lewis, Kamar Baldwin and Tyler Wideman each added eight points for Butler, as the Bulldogs shot 49 percent for the game. Butler got out of the gates early, hitting six of their first 10 attempts from behind the arc to build an 11-point lead late in the first half that turned into a 40-33 halftime edge.

Wideman led Butler with seven rebounds. Woodson and Baldwin each added six. Lewis had five assists as Butler assisted on 15 of its 25 made field goals.

Luke Fischer and Markus Howard led Marquette with 19 points.

The Bulldogs continue play on the road Saturday at Providence. The 4 p.m. tip will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network.
