@ButlerWSoccer Defeats Eastern Michigan 1-0

Box Score

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's soccer team improved to 3-1-1 on the season with a 1-0 shutout victory against the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Friday night. The game-winning goal came from Annika Schmidt midway through the second half.

The difference in tonight's match was execution off a corner kick. Amanda Kowalski checked into the game and took the corner for the Bulldogs and placed a beautiful ball directly in front of the goal where Schmidt connected for her first goal as a Bulldog. The header goal was recorded in the 61st minute of action.

Butler once again used two goalkeepers in the match with Hannah Luedtke getting the start and the final 45 minutes going to Leonie Doege. Luedtke made four saves in the opening half, while Doege was credited with three.

The Bulldog defense posted their third-straight shutout with the decision. The unit has only allowed one goal over the first five matches of the season.

BU will return to action this Sunday with a 4PM kickoff against Cleveland State.
