INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's soccer team won their sixth-straight contest on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 decision over the Indiana State Sycamores. The Bulldogs have not allowed a goal during the winning streak.
Sunday's contest went down as yet another shutout for goalkeeper
Hannah Luedtke who improved to 3-1 on the year. Luedtke was credited with two saves over a full 90 minutes of action.
Offensively, it was
Breann Pempek finding the back of the net for the Bulldogs. Pempek's first goal of the season came off a double assist from
Amanda Kowalski and
Madison Toth.
Kowalski sent the ball up to Toth on the far side of the field. Toth would beat a defender and send a ball back up the middle of the field where Pempek connected on a header. The shot beat the keeper to right side and ended up being the game-winner.
Butler outshot Indiana State 14-4 and held the upper hand in corner kicks 8-1. Three of the Sycamores four shots came in the final stages of the contest.
Butler's final non-conference test of the 2017 season will feature a home contest against Chicago State on Thursday night. Kickoff is slated for 7 PM.
