MILWAUKEE – #19 Marquette swept Butler Wednesday night at the Al McGuire Center (25-12, 25-13, 25-22). The Bulldogs move to 6-14 with the loss, while Marquette moved forward for their 15th win of the season.
The Golden Eagles posted a .398 attack percentage to earn the win. Allie Barber was the top Marquette performer, collecting a match-high 17 kills off just 31 attempts (.484).
Butler's top offensive weapons were
Bri Lilly and
Brooke Gregory. Each student-athlete took 24 attempts to record eight kills.
Rachel Klitzing was in the box score with four kills and
Natalie Ravenell would add two.
Maddie Freiwald would once again setup the offense for BU. She ended the match with 23 assists, four digs, and one kill. The 'Dawg defense would get a lift from libero
Elizabeth LaBue who tallied a team-high 14 digs.
Service aces favored the home team 6-1. Lilly was the lone Bulldog to record an ace for Butler. She added two block assists to reach 10 total points. The BU block leader was
Melody Davidson with four.
Butler will return to action this Saturday with a 2 PM match at home vs. Xavier.
