INDIANAPOLIS –
Bri Lilly Taylor Takeda and
Maddie Freiwald walked off the Hinkle Fieldhouse court for the last time on Sunday afternoon with Butler taking a 3-0 victory against DePaul. Each senior contributed in a big way to help the Bulldogs find the win column.
Freiwald posted 31 assists, six blocks, five digs and three kills in her final start at Hinkle. She found Lilly for five kills,
Melody Davidson for seven and
Natalie Ravenell for a team-high 13. Lilly recorded her five kills on just 11 swings. She didn't commit a single error to post a .455 attack percentage.
Davidson matched Freiwald for a team-high six blocks. She was also efficient offensively, hitting .357 with seven kills off 14 attempts.
Ravenell hit .400 in the win over the Blue Demons. She finished the game with 15 total points by adding two blocks. Ravenell, Freiwald, Takeda and
Jillian Ziemba also recorded service aces in the sweep.
The BU kill total was rounded out by
Brooke Gregory with eight and
Shay Horn with three. The digs leader this afternoon was
Elizabeth LaBue with 12.
Team blocks favored the home team in this one 11-2. Butler dominated up front to post a .333 attack percentage compared to just .078 from DePaul.
BU will ride this momentum into the final weekend of the regular season. They will face Villanova on Friday, Nov. 16 and turn around to play Georgetown in the finale on Saturday.
