INDIANAPOLIS – The nationally-ranked Marquette Golden Eagles recorded a 3-0 win at Butler on Friday night to improve their overall record to 23-5. The setback moves Butler's overall record to 8-19.
Butler was led by
Bri Lilly and
Brooke Gregory. Each student-athlete ended the night with six total kills. Lilly hit .294 and added four blocks to her stat line.
Head Coach
Sharon Clark also saw a solid all-around game from
Natalie Ravenell and
Maddie Freiwald. Ravenell posted five kills, seven digs and five blocks. Freiwald just missed a double-double with 14 assists and eight digs.
Butler recorded 10 total team blocks compared to just three from Marquette.
Melody Davidson helped BU win that category with a team-high six blocks in the match. She added two kills and a dig.
Rachel Klitzing would round out the Bulldog kill total with three off 16 swings.
Bulldog service aces would go to
Taylor Takeda,
Megan Ramseyer and Gregory. Marquette came up with two more in that category thanks to Anna Haak.
The Golden Eagles were led by Allie Barber who notched 20 kills on just 33 swings (.394). Haak had a match-high 22 digs and Lauren Speckman would provide 22 assists.
Butler will return to action on Sunday with a 2 PM match vs. DePaul. Fans are encouraged to come early for Senior Day recognitions.
