Godlevske Inks Five Recruits for Next Season


INDIANAPOLIS – Butler head coach Kurt Godlevske is pleased to announce the addition of five student-athletes to the women's basketball program. The Bulldogs added four guards and a forward with the talented recruiting class.
 
Oumou Toure
5-11, Guard
Kamiakin High School
Kennewich, Washington


Toure is a four-star recruit (ProspectsNation.com) that become Kamiakin's all-time leading scorer after just three seasons (1,686 points). She averaged 24.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.8 steals, 2.5 assists and 1.4 blocks per game as a junior. Those numbers mirrored her sophomore statistics of 23.8 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.8 steals and one block per contest in 2016-17.
 
Kamiakin posted a 23-3 overall record a year ago that included a 13-1 mark against conference foes. The year prior, Kamiakin went undefeated during the conference season to post a 25-2 overall record. Off the court, Toure is a member of the National Honors Society and an honor roll student. She heads into her senior season at Kamiakin on the Miss Basketball Watch List in the state of Washington.
 
Upe Atosu
5-9, Guard
Scholars Imperial High School
Edo State, Nigeria

 
Atosu will join the Butler women's basketball team for the 2019-20 season after a stellar campaign at Labette Community College. Atosu was a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) First Team All-American. She led the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in scoring by averaging 22.8 points per game against conference foes. Over 17 games, Atosu averaged 19.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. She shot 42.5 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from 3-point range.
 
Atosu helped lead the Cardinals to a 23-6 overall record that resulted in a second place finish in the KJCCC (Region VI) standings. She was a KJCCC First Team All-Conference pick as well as a NJCAA Region VI First Team selection. The NJCAA All-Star was ranked as the 13th best JUCO player by Collegiate Basketball Report. She is also a member of the Nigeria national team.
 
Tenley Dowell
6-0, Guard
Morton High School
Morton, Illinois

 
Dowell is a two-time state champion that will end her stellar career as a Morton Lady Potter later this year. Through three and a half seasons at Morton, Dowell has helped the Lady Potter's post a 108-8 overall record that includes a 44-1 mark against conference foes.
 
Dowell helped Morton win the Class 3A title in 2016 and 2017. The group won a regional championship a year ago with a 31-2 record. Dowell averaged 16.3 points per game as a junior and therefore was an Associated Press All-State selection. The First-Team IBCA All-State honoree reached 1,000 career points midway through her junior campaign.  
 
Sevval Istanbulluoglu
6-2, Forward
St. Timothy's High School
Istanbul, Turkey

 
Istanbulluoglu attended St. Timothy's High School in Maryland after traveling to the USA from her home in Turkey. Top performances for Istanbulluoglu at St. Timothy's included a 17-point, five rebound game against Maryvale Prep and a 16-point, four rebound game against St. John's Catholic Prep. In 2016, Istanbulluoglu scored 33 points in the Turkey national championship game against Botas. Istanbulluoglu played club basketball for Fenerbahce Sport in Istanbul. She was a four-time team captain that guided her team to multiple national championship tournaments appearances.
 
Genesis Parker
5-8, Guard
Bristow, Va.
Stonewall Jackson H.S.

 
Parker attended Virginia Tech and Cincinnati before transferring to Butler. As a Hokie, Parker played in five games during the 2016-17 season before making the move to Cincinnati. As a Bearcat in 2017-18, Parker played in 21 games, averaging 3.8 points per game. Parker's coming out party came in a game at Michigan State in the 2018 WNIT. She came off the bench to score 30 points on 10-of-12 shooting against the Spartans. Those 30 points came in just 23 minutes of playing time. Parker's performance also included seven rebounds and two steals.
 
Coming out of Stonewall Jackson High School, Parker was a four-star recruit that was ranked 62nd overall and 18th among all guards (ESPN HoopGurlz). She was named USA Today Second Team All-Virginia following her senior campaign. The WHSL First Team 6A All-State team selection helped Stonewall Jackson win the 6A title in 2014.
