@ButlerMBB Shoots 60 Percent, Beats Marquette by 20

A career-high 23 points from Tyler Wideman and a defensive effort that limited Marquette to 5-of-18 shooting from three-point range propelled the Bulldogs to a 92-72 road win Wednesday night in Milwaukee.

With the win, Butler improves to 16-7 overall and 6-4 in BIG EAST play. The Golden Eagles are now 13-9 (4-6 BIG EAST). The Bulldogs sweep the season series after also beating Marquette at Hinkle Jan. 12. Butler has now won three straight games.

A 19-4 run turned an 18-18 game into a 37-22 Butler lead with 4:15 remaining in the first half. At that point in the contest, the Bulldogs were shooting 65 percent and had hit four of their first five attempts from behind the arc. Butler entered the locker room with that same 15-point lead at halftime (43-28).

The lead grew to 30 midway through the second half as the result was never in doubt.

Five Bulldogs reached double figures as Kelan Martin (16), Kamar Baldwin (15), Sean McDermott (13) and Aaron Thompson (11) joined Wideman with more than 10.

Butler shot 60 percent for the game, including 8-of-14 from three-point range. The Bulldogs also made 18 of 22 free throw attempts.

Marquette's Andrew Rowsey, who entered the contest averaging 20.2 points per game in BIG EAST play, was held scoreless by the Bulldogs, going 0-for-6 from the field. The Golden Eagles made five three-pointers, less than half their average.

Markus Howard had 26 points to lead the home team.

Butler out-rebounded Marquette, 32-22. Wideman led the team with nine. Wideman made eight of his nine attempts from the field and all seven of his free throw attempts. He entered the game leading the BIG EAST in field goal percentage.

Baldwin had five of the team's 17 assists to go along with five rebounds. Martin had seven rebounds.

The Bulldogs return to Hinkle Fieldhouse to host DePaul Saturday. Tickets are still available for the noon tip. Five of the Bulldogs' next six games are in Indianapolis.
