The Butler softball team is now 2-0 in BIG EAST play after taking the first two games of the series against Seton Hall. The Bulldogs are now 11-16. Seton Hall moves to 14-21, 0-5 in BIG EAST play.

The Bulldogs took game one of the doubleheader 8-5 after the Pirates jumped out to a four-run lead in the top of the first inning. Butler answered, scoring four runs of their own in the bottom of the first.

The Bulldogs would score four more, two in the second and two in the fifth, to secure their lead. Seton Hall's only run scored out of the first inning was in the top of the second.

Seton Hall's first three batters were walked by Bulldog starter Alyssa Graves to begin the first inning. Kaitlin Doud came on in relief and gave up a single to Hailey Arteaga to score Janae Barracato. The Pirates would score off a fielder's choice and a two-run single from Destini Peck to end the top of the first with a 4-0 lead.

Jenna Foreman started the Bulldog offense in the bottom of the first with a single. Alyssa Lach would score her off a single to the left side. After a Madi Christiansen single, Kaitlin Doud knocked a triple to the right side, scoring Lach and Christiansen. Christina Candotti doubled to score Doud and bring the game to four runs each.

The Pirates scored their last run of the game off another single from Arteaga in the top of the second.

The Bulldogs answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the second. Sarah Dixon singled to score Foreman who reached base on a fielder's choice. A sacrifice bunt from Lach scored Alyssa Garcia.

Doud secured the Bulldogs' lead in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run triple scoring Lach and Dixon. The junior got it done in the circle as well, getting the win and only giving up six hits with one strikeout. She is now 5-3 this season.

Madison Strunk (6-9) received the loss for the Pirates.

Butler used two three-run innings to take the second game 6-0.

The Bulldogs pushed across three in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead. Sammy Andersen began the rally with a single up the middle. After Candotti reached base on a walk, Claire Gilliland singled to load the bases.

With the bases loaded, Payton Longest pinch hit for Foreman and singled up the middle to score Andersen. Pinch hitter Elyse Babb followed for the Bulldogs, scoring Candotti off a fielder's choice. Gilliland scored off a sacrifice fly from Dixon.
