BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Butler baseball team dropped to 17-7 on the year after taking a 10-3 loss at Indiana on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs led 2-0 early, but four Hoosier runs in the sixth followed by three more in the seventh would lead to the victory.
Tyler Houston had a day going 3-for-3 from the dish with a run scored.
Connor Dall was the only other Bulldog to come up with a multi-hit game. BU's RBI leader was
Garrett Christman.
Christman started the game on the mound and helped his own cause in the top of the first inning with a two RBI single to right that scored Houston and
Gehrig Parker. Butler's only other run would cross home plate in the sixth when
James Gargano's ground out to third scored
Michael Hartnagel.
Butler went with Christman for the opening 5.2 innings of the game. He struck out five and only walked two, but the Hoosiers would connect with eight hits which resulted in six runs. Only three of the runs were earned as Butler ended the game with five total errors.
Ryan Pepiot would get the game ball after Christman and throw 1.1 innings of work. Other 'Dawgs to touch the rubber included
Brock Balderson and
Quentin Miller.
Butler will return to the diamond on Tuesday afternoon for a home game against Northern Kentucky. First pitch is set for 4 PM.
