Butler dropped a close 4-3 result Saturday afternoon at DePaul.
The Bulldogs now stand at 13-6 on the season.
Butler opened the match by taking the doubles point with wins on the first and third courts.
Mason Dragos and
Aviv Ben Shabat won, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles, while
Adrian Mag and
Ari Gerstein combined on a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Mag picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles to give Butler a brief 2-1 lead. DePaul took the next two matches for a 3-2 advantage.
Ben Shabat would be the next Bulldog to finish, taking his match at No. 3 singles over Tamas Zador by a score of 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. That would level the team result at 3-3.
DePaul's Christopher Casati was then able to pull out a hard-fought three-set win over
Spencer Lang for the deciding result.
The Bulldogs finish off regular season play next weekend, hosting Xavier at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The match is scheduled for Butler's outdoor courts.
