2018 BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championships Bracket (PDF)

The bracket for the 2018 BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championships has been announced as the Bulldogs look to defend their 2017 conference title.
 
Butler has been awarded the No. 4 seed and will open the tournament against the fifth-seeded Georgetown Hoyas.
 
The women's tournament begins Thursday, April 26 and runs through Sunday, April 29 at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C. Men's play begins Friday, April 27 with Butler's match set for 4 p.m.
 
The Bulldogs finished the regular season with a 14-6 record, including a 2-2 mark against BIG EAST opponents. Butler and Georgetown did not meet in 2018, but the teams did face off in Cayce, S.C. a year ago with Butler taking a 4-3 win over the Hoyas in the tournament semifinals en route to the BIG EAST title. It was one of three 4-3 wins Butler posted in the 2017 event as the third-seeded Bulldogs captured the title in dramatic fashion.
 
Seeds are determined by the conference's tennis championship and coaches' seeding advisory committees that review each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.
 
For the men, play in the eight-team tournament begins with quarterfinal action on Friday at 12:30 p.m. with the top-seeded DePaul Blue Demons facing No. 8 Villanova. No. 2 St. John's will play No. 7 Xavier, No. 3 Marquette will challenge No. 6 Creighton and the fourth-seeded Bulldogs will take on No. 5 Georgetown Thursday afternoon.
 
The men's semifinals are set for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The semifinal winners will clash on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. for a chance at the 2018 league title and an automatic bid into the NCAA Championships.
