The Bulldogs (2-0) remain unbeaten after topping IUPUI 2-0 Monday evening. IUPUI moves to 1-1 on the season. Freshmen
Anja Savich and
Morgan Kloosterman were the deciding factors again for the Bulldogs, each scoring a goal to give Butler the edge.
The game-winner for the Bulldogs was scored in the thirteenth minute after
Elena Gutlove passed the ball to
Paige Monaghan streaking down the right sideline. Monaghan played the ball into the box and Savich slid the ball pass the keeper for her third goal in two games.
Butler controlled the first half, taking the 1-0 lead into halftime and outshooting the Jaguars 14 to two. Starting keeper for the Jaguars Sophia Lipka made six saves in the first half. The Bulldogs continued to dominate in the second half, posting 12 more shots compared to one by the Jaguars.
Kloosterman provided insurance for the Bulldogs in the 82
nd minute off another ball played into the box by Monaghan. Monaghan would end the game with two assists for the Bulldogs.
Hannah Luedtke and
Leonie Doege combined for the shutout, with Luedtke (2-0) receiving the win. Defenders
Julia Leonard,
Annika Schmidt, and
Madison Toth anchored the backline for the Bulldogs, holding the Jaguars to just three shots the entire 90 minutes.
Sophia Lipka (1-1) received the loss for the Jaguars. Grace Bammer, Valentine Pursey, and Elizabeth Bueckers each posted a shot against the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday, Aug. 26, hosting Notre Dame at 1PM. The game will stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
