INDIANAPOLIS - The Bulldogs lost their first match of the Bulldog Brawl to Cleveland State falling short in five sets (25-15, 27-29, 25-17, 20-25, 7-15). The match was tight throughout recording 27 ties and ten lead changes. The teams went back and forth with sets until Cleveland State won the fourth and fifth to seal the match.

Junior setter Megan Ramseyer had a big night for the Bulldogs recording a double-double with 50 assists and 14 digs. Ramseyer also recorded four blocks and two kills. Freshman libero Elizabeth LaBue led the Bulldogs with 25 digs. Butler's outside hitters Brooke Gregory and Natalie Ravenell led the way in kills for the Bulldogs with 17 and 15 respectively.

No matter how hard Butler fought Cleveland State battled back. Freshman setter Christina Grecol had a double-double with 39 assists and 21 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Emily DeGeorge led the Vikings with 23 kills.

Butler had a strong hitting percentages leading to two set wins. The Bulldogs hit .310 in the first set and .250 in the third.  Cleveland State had low hitting numbers in the first two sets they won, but were able to capitalize with 15 kills in the second set and 12 in the fourth. The Vikings had their best hitting percentage of the night in the final set recording .500 to close out the set 15-7.

Butler falls to 1-9 overall as Cleveland State improves to 6-5.

Both teams will be back in action tomorrow as the Bulldog Brawl continues at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Butler will face off against Santa Clara at 10 AM, Cleveland State will take on Kent State at 1 PM, and the Bulldogs will end the day of action squaring off against Kent State at 7 PM for the final match of the tournament.
