SOUTH ORANGE – The Bulldogs opened up the BIG EAST schedule with a 3-0 win at Seton Hall (25-13, 26-24, 25-20).
Bri Lilly stood out in the victory with a team-high 15 kills to go along with five blocks.
Lilly hit .500 against the Pirates collecting her 15 kills on just 26 attempts with two errors.
Brooke Gregory would help shoulder the attack with 10 kills and newcomer
Shay Horn notched nine.
Megan Ramseyer once again set the action for Butler. She ended the match with 34 assists, three digs, two blocks and a kill. The defense also got a lift from libero
Elizabeth LaBue who registered 14 digs.
Butler didn't waste any time to make their mark in South Orange. They scored the first four points of the night and would race out to a 12-4 advantage near the halfway point. Seton Hall never recovered in the opener and a
Bri Lilly kill would end the action 25-13.
Set two was much different from the jump as Seton Hall opened up a 4-1 lead. Butler would eventually tie the match and take a 24-23 lead by going on a 5-0 scoring run. Seton Hall knotted the score at 24-24, but back-to-back SHU attack errors would move BU up 2-0.
The BU comeback kids would once again fight off an early deficit in set three to tie the score at 8-8. An 11-4 scoring run would follow and BU would earn the 3-0 sweep.
BU will return to action tomorrow with a match at St. John's.
