St. John's scored two goals in the first 21 minutes of a Saturday night match with Butler and saw that score hold in a 2-0 victory. The teams met in Queens, N.Y.
Brandon Duarte scored in the 13
th minute and then Skage Simonsen headed in his fourth goal of the season eight minutes later for the early 2-0 lead.
That would prove to be the final score as St. John's improves to 6-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in BIG EAST play. Butler is now 2-6-1 (0-3).
The Bulldogs nearly cut the lead in half in the 71
st minute as 
Brandon Guhl found the net for the Bulldogs, but the goal was disallowed after Butler was called offsides on the play.
St. John's posted the shutout with Lenny Wilson in goal. He made four saves.
Each team took 12 shots.
