FAYETTEVILLE – The Bulldogs dropped a five-set match to Buffalo in the final game of the Arkansas Classic (18-25, 22-25, 27-25, 25-16, 17-15). Senior middle blocker
Bri Lilly was named to the all-tournament team at the conclusion of the match.
BU came out and won the first two sets but were unable to hang on for the win. Lilly was impressive in the setback with 17 kills off just 28 attempts. She hit .464 and also led the team with seven blocks.
BU recorded 10.5 total team blocks, but the Bulls still posted a better attack percentage at the end of the night. Buffalo was led by Andrea Mitrovic who posted 24 kills and 13 digs. She was one of three Bulls to reach a double figure kill total.
The Bulldogs game plan was executed at a high level at the start with the team hitting .367 in the opener and .297 in set two. It dropped to .150 in the third, .086 in the fourth and just .027 in the fifth.
The setback moves Butler to 1-8 overall while Buffalo moves to 6-3.
The Bulldogs return to action next weekend by hosting the Bulldog Brawl. Cleveland State, Santa Clara and Kent State make up the tournament field.
