2019 Schedule

INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler football head coach Jeff Voris announced an exciting schedule for the upcoming 2019 season. Butler will play six home games, including four against Pioneer Football League opponents.

"The Bulldogs are looking forward to the 150th anniversary season of college football," Voris stated. "No doubt, we are taking on our most challenging schedule to date, but we are excited about the twelve opportunities in front of us. We have six great road tests and six outstanding opponents visiting the Sellick Bowl on the campus of Butler University. With this schedule, we will certainly need our best effort in preparation for the upcoming season."

The Bulldogs will open the season with a matchup versus the defending FCS national champion North Dakota State Bison on August 31. The game will be played at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minn. NDSU is coming off of a 15-0 season in which they secured their record seventh national title.

Butler's home schedule kicks off with back-to-back games versus Indiana Wesleyan and Taylor on September 7 and September 14, respectively. Butler has been playing Taylor annually since 2014 and holds a 5-0 record in those contests.

Butler will host Drake, in the first of four PFL matchups at home, on October 12. Jacksonville (Oct. 26) and Davidson (Nov. 9) will also make the trip to Indianapolis this fall. Finally, the Bulldogs will face off against in-state rival, Valparaiso, on November 16 when they will try and win back the Hoosier Helmet.

The Bulldogs road schedule also includes a trip to New Jersey, where they will take on Ivy League opponent Princeton on September 21.

The Bulldogs open up PFL conference play when they travel to Florida to take on the Stetson Hatters on October 5. Butler will also make trips to Morehead State (October 19), Marist (November 2), and Dayton (November 23) for the season finale.

The Bulldogs will return a number of key starters next season, including junior linebacker Mason Brunner, junior kicker Drew Bevelhimer, and redshirt-junior defensive back Luke Sennett. All three players were named to the All-PFL Second Team in 2018.

Coach Voris and the Bulldogs are coming off of a 4-7 season which included a win over #24-ranked Youngstown State in the season opener.
