The Bulldogs ran their unbeaten streak to five matches with a dominating performance Saturday afternoon at Seton Hall. The 4-0 decision moves Butler to 8-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in BIG EAST matches.
Four different Bulldogs scored in the contest.
Seton Hall falls to 5-6 (2-3 BIG EAST) as Butler jumps the Pirates in the conference standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Joel Harvey got the Bulldogs on the board first in the 16
th minute, depositing a rebound off an attempt from
Brandon Guhl that took SHU keeper Andreas Nota and a defender to the grass.
Wilmer Cabrera, Jr. got on the board in the 35
th minute. Sophomore
Louie Bulger had the ball on the right, outside the box, and was able to make a move and get the ball back to his right foot. His perfectly-placed pass through the box bounced onto the right foot of Cabrera, Jr., who beat Nota to the right side.
The dagger came in the 60
th minute as
Alex Lehtinen got a head of steam up the left side. He found Cabrera, Jr., inside the right side of the box. The freshman was able to settle the ball, take a touch to get it to his left foot and fire a shot. SHU keeper Nota made the save, but the rebound went right to the feet of Guhl, who took advantage of the open net.
In the 84
th minute, freshman
Hemi Nasser connected with
Ethan King on a give-and-go as a quick back-heel pass from King set Nasser up for a left-footed strike just inside the right post.
