Sean McDermott continued his scorching shooting to close out Butler's exhibition portion of the schedule, netting 29 points as the Bulldogs posted a 79-47 win over the University of Indianapolis Friday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
McDermott went 11-of-15 from the field, making six three-pointers. In Butler's two exhibition wins, the senior combined to go 10-of-16 from behind the arc (63 percent).
Bryce Nze added a double-double, posting 11 rebounds to go along with 10 points. He and McDermott were joined in double figures by
Kamar Baldwin (17).

Khalif Battle each had eight points as Butler shot 54 percent from the field, including 62 percent in the second half.
Showcasing strong defense for the second contest in a row, Butler limited the visiting Greyhounds to a 1-of-10 start from the field. For the game, Butler held UIndy to 30-percent shooting.
McDermott and Baldwin combined for the final 12 points of the first half for the Bulldogs, who took a 34-23 lead into the intermission. The lead ballooned to 22 (53-31) less than eight minutes into the second half. At that point in the contest, McDermott already had 23, and the game was out of reach.
UIndy was playing their third game in the last four days, having beat Loyola (Chicago) Tuesday night before falling to Xavier Wednesday in Cincinnati. Cory Miller Jr. and Trevor Lakes led the Greyhounds with 13 points apiece.
McDermott had six of Butler's 11 from long range, as the Bulldogs connected on 42 percent of their attempts from behind the line.
Butler had commanding advantages in rebounding (41-25) and points in the paint (30-12).
Aaron Thompson and
Christian David each had seven rebounds. Thompson added five assists as the Bulldogs assisted on 20 of their 30 made field goals.
The Bulldogs open the regular season Wednesday night, hosting IUPUI at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Tip is set for 6:30 p.m.
