@ButlerVB Comes Back to Win at DePaul 3-2

CHICAGO – Butler lost the first two sets at DePaul, but the 'Dawgs would charge back to win the match with a 15-8 victory in the fifth. The win pushes their BIG EAST record to 7-4. It doubled as their 10th win of the regular season.

How It Happened
Butler let a 15-10 lead slip in the opener, allowing the home team to come back and win 25-23. DePaul tied the score at 17-17 on a service ace and would be led down the stretch by Emma Price. Set two was tight from the very start as the two evenly matched teams came together at 16-16. A 4-0 scoring run would separate the two teams and give DePaul a 2-0 advantage at the break 25-22.

Butler took control early in the third by scoring the first four points of the set. The fast start didn't hold as DePaul would tie the action at 5-5. The turning point in this one was a 5-0 BU scoring run that pushed the score to 15-10. BU would not trail again in the third to get back into the match at 2-1 with a 25-22 win.

The fourth didn't start out promising, but BU would battle back to tie the game at 10-10. BU would lead 20-15 moments later. An ace from Logan would push the team to set point and a block from Davidson would get Butler to a fifth set.

BU never trailed in the fifth by scoring the first four points off an Anna Logan serve. Nothing would come easy on Friday night as DePaul crept back into the match at 8-6. After switching sides, Butler will get a lift from Logan. The redshirt senior scored back-to-back Butler points giving the team an 11-7 edge. Attack errors hurt the Blue Demons in crunch time. Miscues from the home team mixed with a Brittany Robinson kill and a Davidson block would seal the road win.

Coach Quote
"Our block came alive at the end, along with our aggressive serving," Head Coach Sharon Clark explained after the win. "We kept them out of system and made it challenging for them to terminate. We did a great job working our middles offensively and setting the ball behind. I thought DePaul played very well. It was an amazing comeback for us."
