Three Bulldogs earned All-East Region honors as announced by the United Soccer Coaches this week. Senior defender
Annika Schmidt was a first team selection, while the sophomore forward duo of
Anja Savich and
Katie Soderstrom made the third team.

This is the eighth consecutive year at least one Bulldog has been named to an all-region team and 13
th season with a Butler region representative in program history.

The first team selection is Schmidt's third consecutive all-region recognition as a Bulldog. In 2019, Schmidt helped led the Bulldog defense to nine shutouts and a .80 GAA. She played 1548 minutes on the season, starting all but two contests due to injury.  Schmidt also netted two goals in her senior season.

The defender is also a three-time All-BIG EAST first team selection, has two Co-SIDA Academic All-District accolades and is a 2019 CoSIDA All-America third team honoree.

Soderstrom earns her first all-region selection after a standout sophomore campaign. She led the Bulldogs with seven assists and tied with Savich for a team-high of eight goals. She finished tied for sixth in the BIG EAST in points (23) and fifth in the conference in game-winning goals (3).

The sophomore forward was an All-BIG EAST first team selection and a CoSIDA Academic All-District first team member. She was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week twice during the season.

Savich followed a stellar freshman season with an equally impressive second year. The 2018 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year co-led the team in goals (8) while adding five assists, finishing with 21 points.
The sophomore tied for fourth in the conference in total shots (61). She moved to eighth on Butler's single-match record in shots with 10 attempts in the Bulldogs 3-0 win at Seton Hall. Savich was named to the All-BIG EAST second team for her efforts this season. Â

The Bulldogs finished the season with an overall record of 10-5-4 and 5-5-2 in the BIG EAST. The Bulldogs fell to Providence in the BIG EAST quarterfinals by way of penalty kicks.
