@Butler_CCTF Competes in Final Tune-Up Before BIG EAST Indoor Championships


INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler track and field team will once again spilt up and compete in two separate meets this weekend.  Part of the team heads to Charleston, Ill. to compete in the Friday Night Special, while the rest of the team competes in South Bend, Ind. as Notre Dame hosts the Alex Wilson Invitational.
 
The Friday Night Special is scheduled to begin with field events starting at 2 p.m. CT Friday, Feb. 15.  The Alex Wilson Invitational will begin at 11 a.m. ET Saturday, Feb. 16 with both track and field events starting simultaneously.

The Field
 
In Charleston, Butler will take on Evansville, Indiana State, Kentucky Wesleyan, Lincoln College, Millikin, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois (Carbondale), Vincennes, Western Illinois, and Wabash.
 
While in South Bend, the Bulldogs will see some of their best competition of the year in their final meet before BIG EAST Championships. They will compete against several Big Ten opponents such as in-state rivals Purdue and Indiana, as well as Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio State, and Michigan.  BYU will also send athletes to the meet.
 
Butler Notes
 
This weekend marks the final competition for the Bulldogs before they head to Geneva, Ohio for BIG EAST Indoor Championships. 
 
"This weekend serves as our final tune-up for the BIG EAST Championships," head coach Matt Roe said.  "We have two meets that will suit well as we look to sharpen up for conference."
 
At the Alex Wilson Invitational, Butler will face some of the best competition in the country, as multiple teams come in ranked on both the men's and women's sides. 
 
Johnny Leverenz will run against Cooper Williams from No. 10 Indiana in the 800-meter run.  Williams currently has the nineteenth fastest 800-meter time in the country at 1:49.09.  Leverenz is coming off a week where he ran his fastest mile of the season at 4:06.81 and will look for similar success in the 800 this weekend.  Both Leverenz and Williams are in the first section of the event that is scheduled to begin around 1:20 p.m. ET.
 
 
Camille Hines and Angelina Ellis are both competing in the 800-meters as well.  Hines currently has the fourth fastest BIG EAST 800-meters time at 2:11.40, while Ellis has the 11th fastest at 4:52.01.
 
Allie Vogeler will run the 200-meter dash for the first time this season.  Vogeler has finished in the top two of the 400 meters at four different meets this season, winning the event at the Indiana State Early Bird and the Illini Open.  Her time of 56.32 in the event is currently fourth in the BIG EAST.
 
Sophomore Jacob Uhl will run the 400-meters this weekend after running the 200-meters at Hoosier Hills.  His 200-meter time of 22.51 last weekend was a college best and was good for eighth overall in the event.
 
In Charleston, the Bulldogs will have several athletes looking to follow up their strong performances from a week ago.
 
Rebecca Collester will try and beat the personal best time of 8.02 that she set just a week ago in the 60-meter dash.  Collester also set her personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 25.70 last weekend.  Both her 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash times are twelfth overall in the BIG EAST.
 
Sam Robinson set a season best in the long jump with a mark of 6.80m (22'3.75") and a personal best mark of 2.00m (6'6.75") in the high jump.  He will compete in both events again this weekend at the Friday Night Special.
 
Niki Ezeh will highlight the women's field entries this week as she competes in shot put.  Last week, her mark of 13.73m (45'0.5") was her personal best and good for seventh overall.
 
Wade Walder competes in the 60-meter hurdles and shot put this weekend after setting a personal best in the pole vault last weekend.  His 60-meter hurdles time of 8.35 is currently third in the BIG EAST.

Men's 800-Meters: Saturday, February 16, 1:20 p.m. ET
Leverenz will compete against some of the best 800-meter athletes in the country. Cooper Williams of Indiana will run in his section and currently has the nineteenth fastest time in the nation.
 
Jacob Uhl
Men's' 400-Meters: Saturday, February 16, 12:05 p.m. ET
Uhl will look to finish the regular season strong after running a college best 22.51 in the 200 meters last weekend.
 
Allie Vogeler
Women's 200-Meters: Saturday, February 16, 1:35 p.m ET
This is the first 200-meter dash for Vogeler this season.  Vogeler has finished in the top two of the 400 meters at four meets this season.  Her time of 56.32 in the event is currently fourth in the BIG EAST.
 
Camille Hines
Women's 800-Meters: Saturday, February 16, 1:10 p.m ET
Currently holding the fourth fastest BIG EAST 800 meter time, Hines will look to move up the rankings before Indoor Championships next weekend.
 
Angelina Ellis
Women's 800-Meters: Saturday, February 16, 1:10 p.m ET
Running the 800 meters with Hines, Ellis will look to beat her personal best of 2:19.34 that she set last season.
 
Friday Night Special
 
Rebecca Collester
Women's 60-Meters: Friday, February 15, 4:00 p.m. CT
Women's 400-Meters: Friday, February 15, 5:10 p.m. CT
After setting two personal bests last week, Collester will look to ride the momentum into Charleston.
 
Wade Walder
Men's 60-Meter Hurdles: Friday, February 15, 3:40 p.m. CT
Men's Shot Put: Friday, February 15, Follows 2 p.m. CT Weight Throw
Walder will be running the 60-meter hurdles and compete in shot put.  His 60-meter hurdles time of 8.35 is third in the BIG EAST.
 
Sam Robinson
Men's High Jump: Friday, February 15, 5:00 p.m. CT
Men's Long Jump: Friday, February 15, 2:30 p.m. CT
Robinson had a career-best mark in the high jump last week and had a season-best in the long jump.  He will compete in both events again this weekend as he tries to break the records again.
 
Niki Ezeh
Women's High Jump: Friday, February 15, 5:00 p.m. CT
Women's Shot Put: Friday, February 15, Follows 2 p.m. CT Weight Throw
Ezeh will follow her personal best mark in the shot put last weekend by competing in both shot put and high jump this weekend.
