@ButlerSoftball Defeats Drexel in Walk-off Fashion Sunday in Florida

The Bulldogs ended their time at the Madeira Beach Invitational on a high note, taking a 3-2, walk-off win over Drexel in Sunday's game.

Butler won its last two match-ups in Clearwater, Fla., and is now 4-6 on the season.

The game was scoreless until the seventh inning when Drexel was able to push across two runs in the top half of the frame.

Butler responded with their heroics in the bottom of the seventh.

With one out, Jenna Foreman and Lauren Fey got on with back-to-back singles. The duo then orchestrated a double steal to move to second and third. Foreman scored on a wild pitch to pull Butler within a 2-1 deficit. After a walk, Sammy Andersen doubled in Foreman to knot the game at 2-2. Drexel decided to intentionally walk Karli Ricketts to load the bases with one out. The strategy worked as Butler's second out came with a forceout at the plate.

With the bases still loaded and now two outs, Madi Christiansen was able to put the ball in play and the ball was misplayed by the Drexel first baseman, allowing the winning run to score on the error.

Andersen had three of the Bulldogs' nine hits. Foreman went 2-for-4 with a pair of stolen bases.

Alyssa Graves went the distance in the circle to pick up the win for the Bulldogs. She struck out eight batters, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks.

The Bulldogs continue play next weekend, traveling to Bowling Green, Ky., for the Western Kentucky-hosted Hilltopper Classic. Butler will play five games in that weekend event.
