The annual Butler Football Blue-White spring game will be held on Friday, April 19 at 4 PM in the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl. This game will cap off the spring season for the Bulldogs, who begin practice after spring break. This game features the Butler offense facing off against the defense in which the winner will be determined by a custom scoring system.
Â
The offensive team, who will be wearing white, can score points by scoring in traditional ways such as touchdowns, field goals and extra points. In this scoring system the offense is also awarded points for first downs, long passing plays, long running plays and fourth down conversions.
Â
Returning starters
Brad Sznajder,
Stephen Dennis and
John McArthur highlight the offensive unit.
Â
The defense will be wearing blue and will be able to score points by shutting down the offense. 3-and-outs, turnovers, sacks, tackles for a loss, and defensive stops will result in points for the defense. The Blue team can also add to their score by scoring defensive touchdowns, blocked field goals, and fourth down stops.
Â
Returning starters
Luke Sennett and
Mickey Kane will try and lead the defense to a spring game victory.
Â
The Blue and White teams will play four 15-minute quarters with a running clock that will stop between drives and under two minutes.
Â
Butler's 2019 football season begins Saturday, Aug. 31 when the Dawgs take on North Dakota State University at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minn. The home opener will be against Indiana Wesleyan on Sept. 7.
