The Bulldogs picked up their seventh win of the season, taking down UIndy 5-2 Monday evening. With the win, Butler moves to 7-4 on the year. The match was highlighted by hard-fought three set victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots by
Mason Dragos and
Thomas Brennan, respectively.
Brennan clinched the match in the No. 2 position, defeating Dario Huber. After falling 6-3 in the first set, the freshman came back to take the second set 7-6 and the third set 6-0. Dragos also battled back to defeat Renato Lima 6-1, 4-6, 7-6.
Adrian Mag notched the first singles point for the Bulldogs in the No. 5 spot, besting Matej Kostadinov in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.
Spencer Lang also defeated his opponent in the No. 6 spot 6-1, 7-5.
To clinch the doubles point, Butler tallied wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 spot. Mag and
Aviv Ben Shabat took down Lima and Magnus Mueller 6-1 in No. 2 doubles. Brennan and Lang defeated Nils Hoffacker and Ariel Farji 6-1 to clinch the point.
The Bulldogs return to the court on Feb. 23, traveling to DeKalb, Ill. to take on Northern Illinois and Green Bay.Â
