The Bulldogs begin a four-game home stand this weekend, hosting Kent State and Central Michigan at Varsity Field. Friday's game against Kent State is set for a 3 p.m. start. First draw on Sunday is at Noon. Both games will stream live on the Butler Bulldog Facebook page.

Butler (0-2) is coming off a hard-fought 17-13 loss at Detroit Mercy. Ashley Guerra scored a team-high five goals in the loss, Haley Hallenbeck added three and Karina Latsko scored two, moving her season total to five. Sydney Pattison added two assists. Amanda Rumsey made nine saves in the loss.

Guerra leads the team in points (8) and goals (7), she also has one assist. Latsko has started both games for the Bulldogs, scoring five goals and tallying an assist. On the defensive end, Carly Hewitt has picked up a team-high 9 ground balls and caused five turnovers. In the cage, Rumsey has made 23 total saves in Butler's first two games.

About Kent State

The Golden Flashes are 0-2 so far in their inaugural season, falling 18-9 to Cincinnati in their first game as a varsity program. Kent State made its home debut on Feb. 16, taking an 11-6 loss to Robert Morris. 

The Golden Flashes' roster consists of 24 freshmen and two sophomores. Freshmen Abby Jones and Alexis Parker were both mentioned on the ASUN preseason watchlist, along with Grace Merrill and Megan Kozar. 

Jones has notched a hat trick in each of her last two games, leading the team in goals and points (7). Lluna Katz has also added four goals for the Golden Flashes. Merrill has played all 120 minutes in goal for Kent State, making 33 saves with a .524 save percentage.

About Central Michigan

The Chippewas are in their fourth year as a varsity program, capturing the Southern Conference regular-season championship a year ago, winning a program-record 11 games. Central Michigan is 0-1 on the young season, falling to Michigan 20-4 on Feb. 15.

Eight Chippewas, each of whom returns in 2019, earned All-Southern Conference honors last spring. Jocelyne Lemay, Shannon Doyle and Natalie Karlen were named to the first team; Tyra Prince, Dominique Hamman, Anna Schoonover and Logan Halvorson each earned a spot on the second team; and Hannah Potter was named to the all-freshman squad.

Lemay led the Chippewas with 36 goals, while Karlen finished with a team-high 56 points. Prince, Doyle, Karlen and Schoonover each scored at least 30 goals, while Hamman finished with a 12.39 goals-against average and a .451 save percentage.

Up Next

The Bulldogs continue their home stand on March 1 and March 6, hosting St. Bonaventure and Louisville, respectively. Friday's game against St. Bonaventure will begin at 3 p.m. The Wednesday match-up vs. Louisville is set for 1 p.m.
