NEW ORLEANS – Butler moved to 2-3 on the young 2019 season after taking another tough loss in the bottom of the ninth inning. New Orleans scored the game-winning run off BU with two outs in the bottom of the ninth off a wild pitch.
The top five hitters in the BU order all collected one hit, helping BU record eight on the day. The only player to reach two hits vs. New Orleans was catcher
Zach Parker. The lone BU run was scored by
Maison Stites.
New Orleans scored first in the bottom of the first inning. Woullard singled through the left side of the infield to notch the only RBI of the game.
Butler would get that run back in the top of the third. Stites would single with one out and eventually come around to score on a defensive error.
The Bulldogs started
Connor Schultz against New Orleans. He tossed 6.1 innings, striking out four and only walking one.
Kevin Napoleon would come in for relief. The loss would fall to
Jack Myers (0-1).
Butler will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 27 when they travel to Bloomington to face the Indiana Hoosiers. First pitch is set for 3 PM.
