@ButlerUMTennis Captures Tenth Straight Victory with Win Over IUPUI

The Butler Men's Tennis team (14-4) captured another key victory Friday afternoon against the IUPUI Jaguars (10-5) at the Butler Bubble. For the Bulldogs, it marked the tenth straight win of the season.

The Bulldogs quickly went up 4-0 after winning the doubles point and three straight singles victories.

In the doubles portion of the match, the duo of Aviv Ben Shabat and Adrian Mag led the way, winning the second court 6-1. Mag and Ben Shabat both showed off their skills at the front of the net, giving no room for their opponents to strike. After Spencer Lang and Thomas Brennan dropped their match 6-3 on court three, it came down to the first court to decide who would win the doubles point.

Mason Dragos and Ryan Roegner battled with IUPUI's Alex Jochim and Colton Morehart in a match that had to be decided by a tiebreaker. Dragos and Roegner finally put away the Jaguars 7-6 (6) to secure the doubles point for the Bulldogs.

In singles play, the Dawgs started fast, securing the team win once the first three results were in. Brennan walked away with the first singles win of the day on court two, beating Sean Bailey 6-3, 6-0. Lang followed with a sweep of his own, getting the win on court four 6-2, 6-2. It was Ben Shabat who clinched the victory for the Bulldogs on court three after a strong run to defeat his opponent 6-2, 6-1.

Dragos stretched his winning streak to five matches after a battle with Jochim at No. 1 singles. Dragos dropped the first set 6-1 and found himself down 4-3 in the second set before rallying to win 7-5. In the match tiebreaker, Dragos put away Jochim 10-5 to get the win.

Mag followed up his impressive doubles victory, with a win in the fifth pairing 6-2, 6-2. IUPUI's lone win of the day belonged to Mikel Saaverda, as he defeated Roegner in the final pairing 6-4, 6-3.

With the win, Butler extends its winning streak to 10 straight matches. The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday afternoon, when they travel to Valparaiso to take on the Crusaders. This will be the Dawgs' final tune-up match before next weekend's BIG EAST opener at Villanova.
