The Bulldogs tallied another non-conference win Wednesday afternoon, defeating Ball State, 6-1. Butler battled to earn the doubles point and took five singles wins to earn the victory.
The doubles point came down to the No. 3 court with
Thomas Brennan and
Ryan Roegner defeating Chris Adams and Conner Andersen in the tiebreaker 7-6 (3).
Mason Dragos and
Michael Dickson took the other doubles win at the No. 1 court to put the Bulldogs up. At the No. 2 spot,
Aviv Ben Shabat and
Adrian Mag battled Tom Carney and Thibault De Negri, but ultimately fell, 7-5.
Brennan took the first win in singles play for the Bulldogs with a straight set victory over Marko Guzina, 7-6, 6-0. Dickson, playing in the No. 5 spot, followed it up with another straight set win over Andersen, 6-3, 6-4.
To clinch the match, Ben Shabat took down De Negri 6-2, 6-4. Roegner saw success at the No. 6 court, beating Carney in the first set after four tiebreakers, 7-6. He followed it up with a 6-2 second set win. Mag was the last Bulldog to finish, coming from behind to defeat Chris Adams 0-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Butler will play two home matches this weekend, hosting Xavier on April 5 at 3 p.m. and UIC on April 6.
