INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs posted an 11-7 win over St. John's on Saturday to even the weekend series at 1-1. Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was called after nine innings with the teams knotted up on the scoreboard at 4-4. The two teams will return to the diamond tomorrow at noon to declare a winner.
Game one was a wild one as Butler claimed an 11-7 win after a seven RBI performance from
Harrison Freed. The junior outfielder hit a grand slam in the bottom of the second inning to help BU post a 6-1 lead. The Johnnies would fight back to tie the game at 6-6, but Freed would return to the dish and hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to make the game 9-6.
Insurance runs would come around in the seventh with McGrath scoring on a sac fly and Wirges taking off for home on a wild pitch.
Freed ended game one 2-for-5 from the plate with the two homers and seven RBI.

Kyle Smith also picked up one RBI in the win.
On the mound,
Sam Hubbe would get the start and throw the first 3.1 innings. He would hand the game ball off to
Alex Voss in the fourth. Voss took Butler home by throwing the final 5.2. He improved to 2-0 on the season by limiting St. John's to one run off five hits.
Jack Pilcher and Joe Kelly ended game two on the mound for their respective clubs. The rubber match will resume play tomorrow at 12 PM.
