2019 Butler Women's Soccer Schedule (HTML)
The Butler women's soccer program has announced its 2019 schedule. The 20-game slate includes four teams who advanced to the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
"As has been the case in the last few years, the strength in the non-conference portion of the schedule will provide plenty of opportunities to build a great resume when it comes to consideration for the NCAA Tournament," said Butler co-head coach
Tari St. John. "The BIG EAST slate will include a 2018 College Cup team in Georgetown as well as several other programs that have continued to make waves on the national scene."
The home portion of Butler's schedule includes five Sunday contests, including four BIG EAST match-ups. The 2019 Olympic Sports Pass goes on sale Wednesday, May 15 at 10 a.m., and single-match tickets will go on sale June 1.Â
The 2019 campaign opens Aug. 14 at the Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis as the Bulldogs host Illinois State in an exhibition. The second and final exhibition is also the first opponent who made the 2018 postseason as the Bulldogs travel to Louisville Aug. 17.
The Bulldogs will also host a pair of Big Ten opponents in non-conference action as Michigan State (Sept. 5) and Illinois (Sept. 12) visit the Sellick Bowl. Additional home, non-conference match-ups include IUPUI Aug. 25 and Kent State Sept. 15.
Butler will travel to Wisconsin Sept. 1. The Badgers advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 a season ago. The Bulldogs will also face Milwaukee, another NCAA Tournament team, on the road Sept. 8. Butler's remaining road, non-conference matches include the regular season opener Aug. 22 at Morehead State, Northern Kentucky Aug. 29 and Utah Sept. 20.
The BIG EAST schedule opens Sept. 29 as the Bulldogs travel to Seton Hall. Butler's first two conference matches are on the road as the team will next travel to DePaul Oct. 3. The Bulldogs will also meet Creighton (Oct. 10) and Providence (Oct. 24) on the road.
The home portion of Butler's BIG EAST slate begins Oct. 6 when Villanova comes to the Sellick Bowl. Four of the Bulldogs' final five regular season contests will be played in Indianapolis as the team also welcomes St. John's (Oct. 13), Georgetown (Oct. 20), Marquette (Oct. 27), and Xavier (Oct. 31).
Georgetown, the 2018 BIG EAST champion, advanced to the NCAA semifinals.
The top six teams in the conference standings will qualify for the 2019 BIG EAST Tournament, which begins with quarterfinal action Nov. 3. The top two teams from the regular season will host semifinal match-ups on Nov. 7 with the BIG EAST title match scheduled for Nov. 10.
In the last four seasons, Butler's overall record stands at 53-22-10. During this period, the program earned its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015 by winning the BIG EAST Tournament. The Bulldogs also earned an at-large berth in the 2017 NCAA Tournament and made BIG EAST Tournament championship game appearances in both 2017 and 2018.
