@ButlerWSoccer Adds Alex Collier as Assistant Coach

Alex Collier, a 2015 Butler graduate, returns to the university as an assistant coach with Butler's women's soccer program.

Collier returns to his alma mater after spending the last four years coaching and training soccer players at a variety of levels, including the professional ranks.

"We are delighted to have Alex join our program and to put it as tersely as possible, we got our man," said co-head coach Rob Alman. "We identified Alex very early in the process and it became immediately clear that he is one of the best up-and-coming young coaches in the country. Alex will provide our goalkeepers with a top class learning environment and development platform and will help us tremendously in all aspects of our program. As a Butler graduate, Alex has already lived, breathed and thrived in The Butler Way. He's an outstanding person of the highest quality character and is a great fit within the culture of excellence our program enjoys."

The Shelbyville, Ind., native most recently lead the start-up of a soccer training facility, Sogility. Collier specializes in technical training curriculum based around TOCA (or "touch") Trainers.

Collier's spent the last year at Guerin Catholic High School, where he was the head coach for the junior varsity "Gold Team."

Collier's most recent collegiate experience was as a graduate assistant coach at Defiance College in Ohio.  He was the junior varsity coach and the lead goalkeeper trainer for the Yellow Jackets during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Prior to his position at Defiance, Collier served as an assistant coach for the Indy Saints FC in their first year of semi-professional play.  In 2017, the Saints competed in the Champions Soccer League, sanctioned by the United State Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

Collier's college coaching career began at Millikin University in 2015. He spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the men's soccer team and was the primary junior varsity coach.

While attending Butler, Collier worked with the men's soccer program as the student operations manager during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Under head coach Paul Snape, Collier assisted with daily practices and operations.

Collier started his coaching career as a volunteer coach for the Shelbyville High School men's soccer program in 2011 and 2012. He also spent time in Salvador, Brazil volunteering with FIFA.

Collier is certified through United Soccer Coaches (formerly known as NSCAA) and the United States Soccer Federation.

Collier graduated in 2015 from Butler with a degree in human movement and health sciences education. He went on to earn a masters degree in business administration, with a concentration in coaching leadership from Defiance College in 2018.
