MILWAUKEE – Butler took a 3-0 setback at #10 Marquette on Wednesday afternoon to signal the start of BIG EAST competition (25-22-, 25-17, 25-15).
 
How It Happened
Butler would hang tough in the opening stages of the match. A 10-9 Marquette lead in set one would grow to 20-13. The Bulldogs would respond by scoring six of the next seven points to get within two at 21-19. After a Marquette timeout, the Golden Eagles would score three of the next four points to reach set point. They would claim a 25-22 win after a kill from Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year Allie Barber.
 
Set two was all Marquette with the Golden Eagles pushing forward with a 10-4 lead before the first BU timeout. The home team would take a 2-0 advantage into the break after a final score of 25-17. Marquette led from start to finish in set three to claim the sweep.
