BOWLING GREEN – The Falcons took care of their home court on Friday night by defeating Butler 3-1. BGSU improved to 3-2 on the young season while Butler moved to 1-4.
How It Happened
Butler came out out strong and won the first set 25-17 by hitting .278 as a team. Momentum would shift quickly after as BGSU tied up the action at 1-1 with a convincing 25-11 effort. The Falcons continued with their plan of attack to win 25-18 in the third and 25-13 in the fourth.
Newcomers
Megan Sheridan and
Brittany Robinson paced the BU offence. Sheridan had a team-high 13 kills to go along with 13 digs. She led all 'Dawgs Friday night with a .393 attack percentage. Robinson was credited with 11 kills and 10 digs to post a double-double of her own.
Bowling Green got a lift from Katelyn Meyer and her match-high 17 kills. Setter Isabelle Marciniak just missed a double-double with 43 assists and nine digs.
Key Moment
Butler looked to be in the driver's seat after opening up an 8-2 advantage over their opponent in the first set. They would move forward to take a 1-0 lead, but the Falcons would make a statement soon after with a 25-11 win. The key moment came in set three with BGSU going on a 6-0 scoring run that took a 6-5 game to 12-5. Butler continued to fight and came back within one at 14-13, but the Falcons would rattle off the final five points of the decisive third set to get the win.
