The Bulldogs split a pair of contests at The Dome in Rosemont, Ill., Saturday, continuing play during the opening weekend of the 2020 season.
Butler started off the day by knocking off Omaha, 3-2, before falling to host Loyola, 4-3, in the nightcap. After the pair of results, Butler is now 3-1 on the season.
In the first game, Butler found itself down 2-0 after the top half of the first inning thanks to a pair of Omaha solo homeruns. The Bulldogs countered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame.
Elyse Babb singled in
Lauren Fey for the first run before a bases-loaded walk by
Alyssa Garcia plated the second run.
That score would hold until the bottom of the fourth when Fey scored on a wild pitch in what would ultimately be the deciding run.
Madison Seigworth got her first start of 2020 and earned the win, allowing those two runs over four innings of work. Freshman
Mackenzie Griman came on in relief for the final three innings, holding Omaha without a hit or a walk during that period to pick up the save.
Fey had two of the Bulldogs' five hits to go along with two walks.
In the nightcap, Loyola plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to steal a 4-3 result.
Griman tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI double in the fourth inning. Loyola responded with a run in the fifth to re-take the lead.

Lexi Bowdish with an RBI double in the top of the sixth inning.
Payton Longest's sacrifice fly scored the go-ahead run later in the inning.
However, it was Shannon McGee who had the final highlight of the inning with a walk-off, two-run double to give Loyola the win in the bottom of the seventh.
Alyssa Graves took the loss, allowing all four runs on 10 hits. She did not walk a batter while striking out eight.
The Bulldogs wrap up play in Rosemont Sunday with a 12:30 p.m. (Central) match-up against Western Illinois.
