PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Butler moved to 7-7 on the year after taking a 12-9 loss to Baldwin Wallace on a neutral field. The two clubs combined to use 13 pitchers in a contest that approached four hours of action.

Duncan Hewitt highlighted the offense for Butler. Kosmetatos went 3-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored. Hewitt also collected three hits in five at-bats while scoring one run.
Butler recorded eight total hits, but left nine on base. The Yellow Jackets jumped up early in the game after a four-run third inning. The result would give
Blake Sarjent the loss and Kirchoff the win.
Sarjent surrendered five runs over the first two innings of action, but only three were earned. He was replaced on the mound by
Alex Voss. Voss struck out four over four full innings before handing the ball off to
Nick Eaton for one out.
Greg Gilbert would finish out the seventh inning and
Jack Pilcher and
Ryan Schmit would get BU to the finish line.
Baldwin Wallace saw a 7-1 lead shrink down to 7-6 after four full innings. Kosmetatos put Butler on the scoreboard with an RBI single to left in the second and pushed the first run of the fourth across home plate with another single to left field.
BU scored again with
Jacob Margroff drawing a bases loaded walk. A passed ball and Baldwin Wallace fielding error would also help the 'Dawgs get within one.
Three-straight singles for the Yellow Jackets would give the visiting team in the box score some breathing room in the seventh inning. Butler got two runs back in the bottom half of the frame with a
Jordan Wendel walk and two-RBI single from Kosmetatos, but Baldwin Wallace added two more in the eighth to win the game 12-9.
