Set 1: Butler 25-8
The Bulldogs used kills by
Brittany Robinson and
Mariah Grunze to form a 3-0 run that put them ahead 7-3 early. After that, a 4-0 run by Butler consisting of a Robinson kill and back-to-back kills from Grunze increased the advantage to 11-4. The Bulldogs would later use 5-0, 4-0 and 3-0 streaks to put the set away. Grunze led the offense with four kills, while
Marissa McKelvey served up two aces and
Jaymeson Kinley contributed 10 digs in the opening frame.
Set 2: Butler 25-14
Megan Sheridan and
Destiny Cherry had back-to-back kills early to give Butler an 8-3 lead. A later Sheridan kill plus one by Davidson and an ace from Grunze put the Bulldogs up 17-8, and they would cruise from there. Robinson led Butler with five kills in the second frame.
Set 3: Butler 25-20
After the Hoyas got out to an early 7-3 lead, Butler responded with a 4-0 run consisting of Robinson, Grunze and
Amina Shackelford kills to tie it up. Georgetown regained the advantage at 15-14, but two kills each by Sheridan and Cherry formed another 4-0 streak to give the Bulldogs an 18-15 lead. The Hoyas would tie it back up at 19-all, but Shackelford put down three kills as part of the Bulldogs taking 5 of the final 6 points to clinch the set and match. Shackelford had six kills, while Kinley had 10 digs to lead Butler in the final frame.
Stat of the Match
Butler's .392 hitting percentage was almost 100 points higher than the previous season-high of .298 against Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 15.
