CHICAGO – The Bulldogs took a 3-0 loss at DePaul on Saturday to move their overall record to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the BIG EAST Conference (21-25, 15-25, 18-25). Former Blue Demon Elana Brueggeman led the Bulldogs with 11 kills in the match.
How it Happened
DePaul broke a 12-12 tie in the first set with a 4-0 scoring run that helped the home team come out on top 1-0. The 'Dawgs used a timeout after the scoring spree and would get back within one point at 18-17 after a kill from Davidson. The Blue Devils countered with a timeout to stop the momentum and would come out of the stoppage with the next three points to go up 21-17. Hanna Karl got DePaul to set point and a BU error would end the first set with DePaul on top 25-21.
Karl got things going for DePaul again in the second set and the home team was quickly up in this one 8-4. The Blue Demons led wire-to-wire to go up in the match 2-0.
The third set featured back and forth action early, but DePaul broke an 8-8 tie and opened up a commanding 17-10 lead that would hold strong to the final serve. Jill Pressley recorded five of her 10 kills in the finale and DePaul would end the weekend with the sweep.
