Butler and Marquette played to a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes in Indianapolis Wednesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs are now 1-4-1 on the season, including a 1-0-1 mark in BIG EAST play. Marquette is 4-1-1 (1-1-1 BIG EAST).
The Bulldogs had a 21-8 advantage in shots and a 14-5 edge in corner kicks.
Wilmer Cabrera, Jr. and
Jack Haywood led the Bulldogs with five shots apiece.
Hemi Nasser added four. Three of Butler's best chances came in the first half, including two headers off well-placed crosses. Haywood hit the crossbar with a shot in the 40
th minute to keep the score 0-0 at the half.
Butler's
Gabriel Gjergji and Marquette's Chandler Hallwood each posted a clean sheet with Hallwood making seven saves, while Gjergji turned away four of Marquette's attempts.
Due to the modified regional schedule being implemented by the BIG EAST for the spring 2021 season, the Bulldogs and Marquette will meet again March 27 in Milwaukee.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, hosting Xavier at the Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis.
