The Butler men's tennis team returned to action this weekend for the first time since mid-February. The Bulldogs opened a two-match weekend with a 5-2 win over Chicago State on Friday in Indianapolis, Ind.
The No. 1 doubles duo of
Michael Dickson/
Thomas Brennan opened the match with a 6-2 win, proving to be Butler's only doubles win of the day. Chicago State picked up the first point of the match after taking No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by scores of 6-2 and 6-4, respectively.
In singles, it was Bulldogs all the way.
Alvaro Huete Vadillo got Butler's first point with a strong win in the No. 4 flight (6-1, 6-2).
Thomas Brennan and
Drew Michael followed suit with straight set wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
In his first appearance at the No. 1 this year, Dickson clinched the match with a three-set comeback win after dropping the first set.
Filip Tensing fell at the No. 5 set in Butler's only singles loss of the day. Tensing battled back from a 2-6 loss in the first set to win the second 6-3. With the match won, the teams opted for a 10-point tie-break in lieu of a third set, that CSU won 10-3.
