In their first event of the season and the team's first competition in nearly a calendar year, the Bulldogs finished in a tie for 33
rd at the Kiawah Island Classic.
Junior
Claire Edwards led the Bulldogs in the 54-hole event with a score of 229 (+13). She shot a final round 75 Tuesday after a pair of 77s to open the event.
Ally Ross shot an 83 Tuesday to finish the event at 239 (+23), in a tie for 139
th. She was followed in the Bulldogs' line-up by senior
Megan Skoog (242; +26; T-158
th),
Katelyn Le (246; +30; T-174
th) and graduate student
Rayna Oosterhuis (248; +32; T-183
rd). The field featured 41 teams and 210 players, one of the largest tournaments in collegiate golf each year.
After the first two rounds were played at the Cougar Point course, the field split for Tuesday's final 18. The Bulldogs were among the group that moved to Oak Point for a flight championship.
Dallas Baptist took the 27-stroke victory over host and defending tournament champion College of Charleston at Cougar Point. Dallas Baptist's Faith DeLaGarza (-3) took medalist honors. UNC-Greensboro won the flight championship at Oak Point, while Emily Keeling of Lipscomb (+4) was the individual medalist at Oak Point.
Up next for the Bulldogs is the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, which begins Monday.
