One swing of the bat by Brooklyn Ostrowski gave visiting Villanova a 3-0 win over Butler Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis. It was the final game of a three-game series.
Ostrowski's three-run blast in the fourth inning was her first home run of the season.
Paige Rauch posted the shutout for the Wildcats in the circle, surrendering four hits and one walk to the Butler line-up. She struck out six.
Villanova swept the three-game series to improve to 11-7 overall and 3-0 in BIG EAST play. Butler falls to 9-11 (2-4 BIG EAST).
Two hits apiece for
Lauren Fey and
Bri Avery accounted for Butler's four hits.
Alyssa Graves took the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing Ostrowski's home run.
Mackenzie Griman got the start for the Bulldogs and pitched two scoreless innings.
Karli Ricketts went the final four innings of the contest, striking out five.
The Bulldogs return to action next weekend with a three-game series at UConn.
