Butler's women concluded a record-breaking performance with a fifth-place finish at the Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky. The 54-event saw the Bulldogs set a program-record with a second-round team score of 287 (-1).
Sandwiched around Monday's second-round 287 were scores of 306 and 310 to finish at 903 (+39). The host Colonels took the team title at 875 (+11), followed by Northern Illinois (893; +29), Akron (894; +30), Cincinnati (898; +34), and then Butler. There were 14 teams in the field.
Claire Edwards was the top Butler performer, finishing fourth overall at three-over 219. Her second-round 68 (-4) also set a Butler record. She followed that with a five-over 77 Tuesday. EKU's Ragga Kristinsdottir took the individual title at seven-under 209. She was four shots better than Cincinnati's Katie Hallinan (213).
Ally Ross posted Butler's best Tuesday score with an even-par 72 on the 5,910-yard University Club at Arlington course. She had five birdies on the round. Ross finished in a tie for fifth at four-over 220.
Megan Skoog finished in a tie for 31
st at 229 (+13). She was followed by
Katelyn Le (235; +19) and
Alaina Bowie (243; +27) in 54
th and 68
th place, respectively.
Emma Kelly, playing as an individual, finished in a tie for 72
nd (246).
The Bulldogs return to action at the Indiana State Invitational in Terre Haute beginning Sunday.
