Flager, O’Shea and Spetter Named Second Team All-PFL

PFL Release

ST. LOUIS, Mo.
– The Butler football team had three players selected to the 2020-21 Pioneer Football League Second Team on Tuesday afternoon. All three Bulldogs played on the offensive side of the ball. Yogi Flager and Johnny O'Shea represented Butler as wide receivers to make the second team and offensive tackle Skyler Spetter was also worthy of the recognition.

Sixty-five total student-athletes made up the 28th All-Pioneer League Football teams this spring. Head coaches from around the league voted for the awards, however they were not permitted to vote for their own players. In addition to the 65 student-athletes making up the first and second teams, 44 additional student-athletes received honorable mention recognition.

Yogi Flager – WR
Flager played in all six games for Butler as a true freshman and started in the final three contests. He ended the year with 24 receptions for 387 yards and a touchdown. Flager led the team in receiving yards and was second on the squad in receptions. His best performance came in the season finale at Morehead State. Against the Eagles, Flager caught 10 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown. That was his second 100-yard performance with the first coming at San Diego in Week 2. Altogether, Flager averaged 16.1 yards per catch for BU and 64.5 yards per game.

Johnny O'Shea – WR
O'Shea was a starter on the outside for Butler over the first four games of the regular season. He caught 22 passes this spring for 271 yards and added one touchdown. His top performance came in front of the home fans against Morehead State. O'Shea caught eight passes for a season-high 108 yards. His TD catch came the week prior at Valparaiso. O'Shea was also the top target in San Diego with six grabs for 86 yards. Over the first four games of the spring season, O'Shea averaged 12.3 yards per catch and a team-best 67.8 yards per game.

Skyler Spetter – OT
Spetter started in all six games at right tackle for the Bulldogs. He helped BU average 104 rushing yards and 224 passing yards per game. As a unit, the 'Dawgs only gave up six sacks in 2021.
