Butler saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday at Miami (Ohio) as the host Redhawks posted a 6-3 win in Oxford, Ohio.
The Bulldogs' comeback bid fell short as Miami (Ohio) put four runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning and then held on.
With the result, Butler is now 13-15 on the season. Miami improves to 18-6.
Trailing 4-0, Butler was able to push across a run in the top of the fourth as
Teagan O'Rilley singled in
Maddie Moore.
Butler's rally continued in the fifth inning on a
Mackenzie Griman RBI single and Moore being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Moore and
Alyssa Garcia each had two of Butler's eight hits.
Madison Seigworth got the start and took the loss for the Bulldogs.
Alyssa Graves came on in relief and allowed only two runs over the final 4.2 innings of work. Graves struck out six Redhawks.
Miami had 12 hits in the contest. Taylor Rathe got the win for Miami.
The Bulldogs have the weekend off before returning to action a week from today. Butler will play back-to-back home games against Ball State and Dayton Tuesday and Wednesday.
