@ButlerUWSoccer and St. John’s Battle to a Draw

QUEENS, N.Y. - The Butler women's soccer team went on the road and earned a draw with co-BIG EAST leader, St. John's. The Red Storm (6-2-1, 2-0-1 BIG EAST) scored early, and the Bulldogs (9-1-1, 2-0-1) answered midway through the second period. Neither side was able to find a game winner through two overtime periods.

  • 6' | Alli Leonard takes a pass in the penalty area and gets a good strike on the ball, straight at the Red Storm keeper, who makes the save.
  • 14' | Abigail Isger takes a chance from 25 yards out, but it is easily stopped by in front of the goal.
  • 15' | St. John's forward Zsani Kajan takes a pass from Isabelle Aviza and chips it over a charging Emma Martin, giving the Red Storm an early, 1-0, lead.
  • 27' | A Red Storm foul leads to a Butler free kick. Amanda Kowalski sends it to the far post, and an Anastasia Savich header is pulled down by the keeper.

  • 75' | Emma Martin makes an aggressive save as a charging Red Storm attacker threatens with a shot from close range.
  • 79' | Arianna Jalics gets a good look from the right side of the penalty area and forces a St. John's save.
  • 82' | Gretchen Skoglund takes a low cross from Isger and hits a low shot from the top of the box, forcing a save from the keeper.
  • 88' | A Butler corner kick hits the post and bounces around in the goalie box. Savich hits a hard shot that is blocked by a Red Storm defender.
